The “Big Five” is a grouping of five personality trait dimensions: openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. By applying a statistical method known as factor analysis to multiple personality surveys, the specific words and phrases used to describe the characteristics of survey respondents were able to be grouped into these five broader traits.
